Athletics
My goal on Friday is to get in the top three for high jump.
I plan on achieving this by jumping really high
Have you always wanted to jump as far as the professional long jumper but tried and just can’t do it. Then keep reading because I will share some tip on how to do it. I will teach you some run up skills some takeoff skills some flying skills and some landing skills. Long jump is when you have a 40 meter run up and then have to jump into a sand pit as far as you can go.
|
here is the first part that you will need to know. The run up. The runup is one of the most important parts of long jump. If you do not go fast enough you won’t fly through the air long enough to get a good length. But if you run too fast you won’t jump enough and you will be to close to the ground and land to erley. You will also need a good consistent rhythm. And when you come up to the block you need to be consistent and hit it in the right place every time you jump.all sprint techniques will apply to the approach of your jump. The last three steps are the most important. if they get right forward then it is bad. if the are right back that is bad you want it into the middle.so practise the last three steps the most. Your speed must be greatest at the board
|
The second component of long jump is the takeoff. The take of is very important to a good jump. For a good take of you should convert your power from running to jumping keeping most of your speed You need to spring hard off you leading leg. which usually is your dominant one. With your following leg you need to swing it violently through so you can swing you self forward.
Flying is also important there is three techniques the hang which is when you hang in the air and just going. not the most efficient then the sail which is pretty good it is when you go through the air hips first. Then there is the hach hic which is the best you do a ringing motion in the air and land on both feet
|
Last but not least the landin. The landing is very important you land on both feet. try not to land falling backwards and don’t land with your hands behind you. remember they will measure from the furtherest thing to the start.
|
So you have learnt about the run up fas good rhythm. Then we have learn about the takeoff one foot jumps the other follows. We have also learnt about the flying wich is when you are in the air there are three techniques. Then the landing. Now with some of my fact you might be able to long jump better.

Writing asesment
Today we completed our Term 4 writing assessment. We had 5 minutes to plan, 30 minutes to complete our first draft and 5 minutes to proof read. Here Is what I wrote…
Believe it or not I can drive a car that has five gears and a clutch. About a year ago now my dad asked me if I wanted to go down to the river and see if I could drive his holden rodeo ute. So I said yea doubtfully and we drove down to the river. The he pulled the seat right forward and put the steering wheel right down and said jump in. So I hopped into the driver's seat. Then dad told me to touch the accelerator to get a feel for how hard to push it for what amount of revs. The the same with the clutch. Then I moved the gear shifter into first and slowly but surely started moving. Then when the ute got to 2.5 thousand rpm’s I put my foot onto the clutch and shifted into second. When it came to stopping dad told me to put my foot on the brake. But dad never told me to find the brake before I started. So I looked down at the pedals and while I was doing that I was going off the track into the grass. Now a year on I can drive a manual car without stalling and knowing where all the pedals are. I drive his ute round and round the track and use three of the five gears to drive the ute.Now I’m putting some of the road rules into play like stoping at junctions and making up stop sings and speed limits. I like driving cars because it give me better skills for when I get older.

My favorite dance was the devil dance.
The dance I think I was good at was the red hot salsa.

Kia ora Riley,
Hi my name is Josh I am 11 years old. I am a year 7 pupil at Havelock North Intermediate (HNI). I love Bmxing and I am part of the Havelock bmx club and enjoy spending a lot of spare time practising. I also love cars and anything that has an engine. Another thing I like to do is play xbox online with my friends.
At HNI this term we are learning about Change Makers like you. A Change Maker is a person that will make a change to someone's life or a charity. You have helped your friend by donating money to cure kids.
After reading this I was quite amazed that you put all of that effort into donating money to cure kids. It is an amazing thing that you have contributed to. If there were more people in the world like you the world would be an awesome place.
You sound like an awesome person. I would like to meet you in person. I hope that your friend gets better and the cancer remains in remission.. Good luck in the tough guy challenge.
Kind Regards
Josh Stephens

Nucliation
In the last two lessons for science we have been learning about the coke and the mentos experiment A similar experiment to this is the dancing raisins You put raisins in a cup then put soda ins and the gas bubbles go to the winkles of the raisins. Then that make the raisins lighter so it floats to the btop. When it hits the top it pops the bubbles and that make it heavier and it sinks. It repeat this process over and over again

My speach
One of the most important parts of the human body is the lungs. The lungs are located behind the chest. There are multiple parts of the lungs like the bronchus the main parts which are the big balloon shaped organs. The bronchus are made of muscle sort of stuff that is kind of squishy Then there is the trachea also known as the windpipe. Then we get to the throat which comes out the windpipe and into the mouth.
What are the lungs. The lungs are very important every cell in the body relies on the oxygen. The lungs get the oxygen for you. The lungs are the respiratory system. They take the oxygen out of the air. They also take the carbon dioxide out of the body. This is called gas exchange a vital process for you to continue living a part of breathing when the air is pumped in and the carbon dioxide is pumped out
How the lungs work. The air contains oxygen and other kinds of gases like nitrogen carbon dioxide and argon. The lungs take all the oxygen and get rid of the rest. the oxygen gets into the lungs then it goes to the blood stream and to all the cells in the body. When it gets to the cells it puts oxygen in and brings the carbon dioxide out.
Now the lungs bring the carbon dioxide back around the body. Then back through the lungs and then up the windpipe and out your nose or out your mouth. You repeat this process over and over again throughout the whole day.
There are three main types of lung disease: Airway diseases These diseases affect the airways that carry oxygen and other gases into and out of the lungs. They usually cause a narrowing or blockage of the airways. Airway diseases include asthma, emphysema, bronchiectasis, and chronic bronchitis
Now that is how the lungs work. They filter the oxygen out of the air and take the carbon dioxide out of your body. Did you know that you breathe 20- 30 times a minute without even noticing. Also the left and right lungs aren't the same the left lung is divided into two lobes and the one on the right is divided into three

Leaf art
As it is Autumn, we thought we would use some of the leaves, sticks and other natural products found on the ground to create some leaf animals. First we decided on our animal or mythical creature, mine was a cow. Then we planned out the leaves we would need to create our artwork. Once we collected our leaves we glued them on to the paper (some required hot glue guns) and then presented our art.

Instafood
For our instafood we had to draw an image of what we would like to eat. Then we had to describe it with our senses.
This is my writing
This is my writing
Looks like.
“MMMM looks like delicious donuts and ice cream with chocolate sauce.” “A burger with cheese and a juicy patty lettuce and kiwi classic sauce.” “A breakfast bagel.” “looks to be McDonald's.” “A special home made bun.” “Hey there's an egg.” “It’s a kiwi burger. “Delic!”
Smells like
This smells the best what's that is.MMM smells like a cinnamon and sugar donut. Egg a patty kiwi classic sauce smells as good as lynx. Ice cream chocolate sauce. Perfect salted chips. Devine. bagel fresh lettuce smells healthy. Sort of. Cheese must be melted must of been in on the patty on the oven. pineapple that's been on the grill. All smells delicious.perfect time to dig in.
Tastes like
Yum this taste like something I have never tasted before. The egg and the patty is the most divine way to have a burger it’s like burger heaven and then the lettuce perfect it is so crunchy and fresh. The bagel pineapple egg lettuce wow juicy and the cooked perfectly not sloppy but not chewy. The chips are salty but perfect and they taste like chips should. The donut and ice cream is the way to end the meal yum. Cinnamon sugar the perfect amount of both on that not douay donut and the ice cream well the is just the best ice cream I have had in my life. This is so scrumptious.
Dragon slayor
We have been writing a piece of writing in class called the dragon slayer. We watched a video in class And had to describe the dragon slayer man. This is my one
Since he is dragon slayer he needs amor so he wears a chest plate a helmet with horns and shoulder spikes to keep him safe. And wow he is scary the size of his muscles is amazing. His chin sticks out as far as the interstate. And his nose has a peak as high as mt everest. he had a biggish build and his eyes and legs looked out of place they are so small His leg are like sticks. His jaw is very wide to.
In a time when dragons threatened mankind, there was only one man who fought against them all. His name is Tarragon. He and his brave battle horse Black Bull, roamed the desert in search of these terrifying monsters. But things don't always turn out as they should…
Well of course tarragon was a dragon slayer. He had one of the toughest jobs in the world. So He had to be strong. That he was but . If you look carefully you can see that he tallies his kills on his shield. He also loves to jingle the money after the fight. That shows that he doesn't like his job he just wants the money. He Is a knight That fights off all the dragons and keeps all of the world safe.
You can tell he is a real hero. But he doesn't come across happy you don’t want to get in his way. If you know what I mean he thinks he is pretty cool and he might not care about thing but deep down he is a kind and caring guy and he is very likable. He is not a dude that is scared of anything nothing stand in his way. If he gets knocked down he gets back up stronger than before.
ANZAC Dulce et decorum est
For writing we have bee reconstructing a poem following the structure of Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilford Owen.
Miss Hooper read us instructions and we constructed our poem about ANZAC and the war
Here is my poem:
Miss Hooper read us instructions and we constructed our poem about ANZAC and the war
Here is my poem:
The Soldier's tale
We have been here for months now, getting quite sick, all coughing, our legs in pain.
There is mud everywhere, men wounded by gunshots,
Right at the frontline trying to get back to safety boom boom guns fire.
I get behind to the civilized side of the war, I can now rest, I leave all the flares and cannons,
Men too exhausted to think so many men have no boots with cuts on their feet.
It is agony to walk men moving like they are drunk,
They are all too weakened and have torn clothes
Most men are unfortunate and don’t hear the gas shells dropping behind them.
Gas gas! Hurry up and put your masks on.
It's a shambles I don’t know if I have enough time to get this awkward thing on
A man is shouting he has been too slow, the gas gets into his lungs.
He is stumbling around like a made man
The gas is thick now. It is a greenish color.
I look around all I can see is a big green gastly cloud of gas.
My comrade comes running up to me. He has no mask. Gas is getting into his lungs
He is coughing horribly I am helpless I want to help. I know he is going to die.
His face is going really gray. We carry him to the wagon, I put him on
We walk behind the wagon as he twists and turns in pain.
It is awful he is going white, his head is rolling freely
His eyes are rolling, he is slowly dying in agonizing pain
Every bump it gets worse,
The blood is gurgling in his lungs,
All the mucus is coming up from his inside,
The sound is the worst in the world. One You Never want to here
If you experienced this first hand like me,
You could never say that it is glorious to die for you contory.
These things that I have described to you,
I have to live with for the rest of my life.

Own words
|
John Key and the national party decided to have a flag referendum because many people think that the Union Jack should not be representative of NZ and it is too similar to the Australian flag. John Key and the national party think it is time that we think of changing the flag.
|
The black on the new flag stands for the color that we have become. The blue on the new flag stand for the blue sky and the seas. The southern cross on both of the flags stand for our place on the land and the ocean
It is a symbol of the land of NZ. The blue on the old flag comes from the Blue Ensign and represents the land and the sea.
The union jack stands for our relation to England
